Sunday Thoughts 6

- Doug Hoffman is the anti-Obama.  Beside the fact that one is black one white, one liberal one Conservative; Hoffman is the exact opposite of Obama.  Seeing the interviews Hoffman did, it isn’t like the guy is oozing charisma, it really seemed like Hoffman was thrown into the mix, while the minute Obama went to the Senate it seemed he was preparing to move to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.  Hoffman wasn’t able to answer questions from a local editorial board concerning the district that he didn’t even live in.  While Obama started his political career as a community organizer, being intimately aware of those “parochial issues”.

- Have you ever noticed that when Obama does a campaign-esque speech he seems to be in need of a taller mic-stand?  He frequently seems to hunch over especially when he gets to his points of emphasis usually accompanied with an increase in volume.  Just something I noticed that was odd.

- Sticking with politics, I am surprised to see the perceived momentum towards a health care bill in light of the elections on Tuesday.  As I was watching the returns the talking heads all posed the question “is this a referendum on Barack Obama?” implicitly saying that it is.  The bottom line is that in our 24-news cycle all things are overblown and come the 2010 mid-term elections and the 2012 Presidential election there will be plenty of other issues to influence voters.  With that said I expected Congress to get extremely gun shy relying on rhetoric instead of action for fear of being on the wrong side of things and subsequently voted out.  It looks like the House is trying to make something happen over the weekend.  If you have to pick a time when you can somewhat control the spin of the 24-hour news cycle, doing it over the weekend is your best bet.

- Tim Lincecum was busted for marijuana possession and paraphernalia.  Huge shocker here, ranks right up there with A-Rod using steroids and stock brokers being greedy.

- Isn’t the pun always intended?

- David Crowder Band puts on one of the best live shows, period.  An incredible amount of thought and preparation is obviously put into their sets.  The way they interact with crowd is rehearsed, but still very amusing.  If that doesn’t impress the drummer built a robot to play another drum kit, essentially a live drum machine.
